Emerging Trends in Bathroom Design Projects
2023 is nearly here! While each trip around the sun feels shorter and longer somehow, it’s time to check out what people will be doing with bathroom design projects. From grey bathroom cabinets to earthy aesthetics and our favorite timeless elements, here are some of the emerging bathroom design trends we’re keeping our eye on in the new year.
Backlit Mirrors
Backlit mirrors are a practical statement piece for bathrooms of any style. They offer much-needed light in hard-to-reach places and don’t create harsh shadows and brightness while you are getting ready or enjoying a relaxing shower or bath.
Saturated Color
Muted tones are out, and bold saturation is in. Saturated colors have a lot of richness and complexity to them. You don’t have to jump to jewel tones or stray from a classic black and white theme but creating some “wow” moments with a saturated backsplash, vanity, or accent piece is going to be a popular design trend in 2023.
Natural colors will also be popular in the coming year. We talk a bit about the emerging trends in dark gray bathroom cabinets and accents and having some nice earth-tone paint or wall covering colors would create a serene yet complex look for your 2023 bathroom project.
Standout Bathtubs
Those boring built-in tubs are being replaced in 2023 with more of the standout and standalone tubs that create a unique focal point for your new bathroom look. Imagine this stunning Storm 69” Freestanding White Tub (complete with tree accents and a gloss finish) next to a set of grey bathroom cabinets or even this Milan 47.3″ Bathroom Vanity in Modern Gray. Add some woodsy or natural-colored accents like forest green walls and you’ll have an earthy escape every time you turn on the tap!
Warm Metallic Accents
To go along with the earthy hues that will dominate the emerging bathroom trends in 2023, we can also expect some elegant metallic accents in warm gold and bronze colors.
A lot of the trends this year lend themselves to a cohesive and soft-but-still-bold look that is both inviting and awe-inspiring.
Natural Materials
Since the pandemic, there has been a big uptick in adding natural and outdoorsy elements to indoor spaces. After all, we spent a lot of time inside, wishing we could be outside – why not make your home space a nice mixture of both?
The emphasis in the coming year will be on stone and wood accents, primarily marble and anthracite (which we talk about below) for stone and teak for wood accents. Teak naturally resists water and ages well, which makes it a perfect fit for bathroom accents, vanities, and more.
Mix of Concealed and Open Storage
Storage is often a sticking point in bathrooms – sometimes the layout or square footage doesn’t immediately allow you to stick full cabinets and a large vanity in the space. But if you have too much open storage, things can look cluttered.
That’s why having a mix of open and concealed storage elements is on the must-have list for 2023 bathroom remodels.
Anve has a host of grey bathroom cabinets that could fit this bill nicely, including:
- Haley 36” Bath Vanity Set in Sea Cloud Gray
- Milan 47.3″ Bathroom Vanity, Modern Gray
- Columbia 72″ Single Bathroom Vanity, Ash Gray
- Alicante Bathroom Vanity, Gray Smoke: in 24” and 39.5”
- Elizabeth 36” in Sapphire Gray
Features for Staying a While
Another likely product of the pandemic is the focus on adding bathroom features that speak to a calm, “stay a while” experience.
Adding double vanities and more than one area for getting ready means you don’t have to rush and feel like you or your partner, kids, or roommates are in the way. You have plenty of space to tackle that 5-step face routine, groom and shave, and do your hair and makeup for a special occasion. For example, our De Soto line of grey bathroom cabinets and vanities offer lots of storage and counter space, often with an extra prep area in the middle.
Other “stay a while” features include the luxury tubs we talked about earlier, dressing room tables, and seats in the shower. Creating a relaxing shower and bath experience is a top trend for 2023, and wellness features are going to be big as well. It’s going to be the year of pampering ourselves!
Ribbed Surfaces in Vanities and Accents
Trends for bathroom spaces are much more focused on tactile and visual juxtaposition, which creates texture and layers in the space. That’s why another of our favorite trends for 2023 bathroom remodels: ribbed surfaces.
The texture of a ribbed wood or wood-finished vanity creates a spa-like feel that you’ll love for years to come. It’s not too flashy or trendy, but it creates a nice, fresh look to regular wood and woodgrain cabinets. We’ve got several in stock, in a variety of colors, including:
- Linden 24 inch Bathroom Vanity in Whitewashed Walnut
- Linear 36 inch Bathroom Vanity in Mid Century Walnut
- Savannah 48 inch Bathroom Vanity in Bright White
Anthracite & Grey Bathroom Cabinets
Anthracite, also known as hard coal or black coal, is a dark grey stone that can create a dramatic look in any space. If you aren’t looking to add too many real stone accents to your bathroom, you can still incorporate anthracite by choosing a saturated and dark gray tone to make your walls or fixtures pop – remember the trend about saturated color we just talked about.
